Palm Pre Loses iTunes - Did it ever have it?

Just came across a news article about the Palm Pre today claiming that it has just been "BLOCKED" by Apple so that it's not able to sync with iTunes. I find it interesting that anyone would think that Apple would actually allow this. The ONLY other phone that EVER was able to do this was the Motorola Rokr E1 and even that phone didn't really take off, did it?
That's like me expecting my Blackberry to sync with iTunes.
